What have I learned from Daisybelle?

What have I learned from Daisybelle?

We are one week from an auspicious anniversary.  On July 13th, a hapless Sunday last year, Sebrina dropped off a rescue at Frank's door.  She was the second rescue actually in about a month.  I didn't want to meet her if she was not going to be here long as I fall in love with dogs easily and didn't want my heart broken.  But, as life has it her rescue started a whole new life chapter for me and Frank.

Daisybelle came here at about 43lbs.  She was at the pound, and apparently was not able to eat and was on her last days as because of her weight she was not adoptable.  But, Sebrina saw something in her and then Frank, and now she is 53 lbs. of healthiness.  She has changed our lives for the better, and that would only begin to describe what she has brought to us.  She helped us understand that by watching each other interact and love her who we are and would be with each other.

So.. I thought I would take a moment in her honor.. to list the top 10 things I have learned from Daisybelle.

1) If you are not sure what to do after a long nap, don't under value the possibility of another nap.

2) If you can't get your way with Dad 1, a little charm and affection may just get you what you would like from Dad 2. (I am Dad 2)

3) There are no absolute rules.  Yes, with a little love, charm, and cuteness you can basically get the rule of the house and possibly sleep around the house from sofa to sofa to beds.

4) Never give up, just because you have never been fed at the table is no reason not to make one attempt per meal to sit under the glass table and look up.

5) The only thing better than a nap, is a nap with someone else.

6) If you are at a party of new people, best to sniff around and check everyone out and then selectively visit those you want to get to know better.

7) Exercise matters, and if you don't get enough then crankiness and irritability will follow!

8) Fireworks and thunderstorms are bad, but they do get lots of  affection and care from those that love you.

9) Even stubbornness in the right dog can be cute, just not too often!

10) Love honestly, let those that you do love know it and sometimes just a simple touch is all that is needed and can say more than words.

Since I met her, fell in love with her, my life has changed greatly.  From being a loner to being part of a family.  The happiness and life she brings to our family is immeasurable  and happy she is and will be a part of our lives.  Not sure how we will celebrate the 13th maybe just a family nap or two!  Walk in the park, and maybe a swim in the lake or pool.   And they say we rescued her!
