For the first time in my life, I am scared in my home country.

Let me be clear, I have experienced hate and prejudice for being Jewish,  for being Gay.  I also have been wise enough to realize that as a white American, I have been privileged and somewhat sheltered.

But,  I have never witnessed such hate and prejudice emanating from the pores of the leadership of our country.  Certainly against the LGBT+ Community, Certainly against immigrants, Certainly against Black Americans, Women.. I am sure I have left others off the list.

I posted this on Facebook, but I am also concerned that the new Facebook algorithms, under the Zuckerberg era, may suppress its viewership, so I should also post it as a blog.

I wake up as an American, Jew, Gay male, frightened of my own country.

At the Republican Convention in 2016, Donald Trump said, “As your president, I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens from the violence and oppression of a hateful foreign ideology.”

Such friends, we don't need!

Actions speak louder than words, as his administration and those who follow his leadership from the Senate, House, governors, and more are focused on erasing or hiding the LGBTQ+ people in this country, as they also attack and vilify every minority, immigrant, or anyone that does not meet their ideal of what an American should be.

Recently, Ron DeSantis, Governor of the great state of Florida, has taken time out of his busy schedule to focus on sidewalks that have been painted the rainbow colors in the crosswalk. The FDOT painted over the rainbow crosswalk in Orlando, a memorial to the 49 people massacred at the Pulsar gay nightclub in Orlando. The cowards did this overnight!! They have also sent letters to Key West and Fort Lauderdale, stating that they will do the same.

Maybe, you are not gay, bi, trans, or other different sexuality, and you have your head in the sand and don't believe any of your friends or family are either. You think this doesn't impact you.

Maybe for religious reasons, you think I am a sinner.

Maybe you are like my neighbor who threatened my life and my dog, and accused me of being a pedophile, and thinks "getting" rid of all the gay people would be good for this country. Am I next to be rounded up and be shipped to Sudan?

Do you really feel that safe in your own being, in your own family, that you will be safe from their wrath?

These "leaders" of our government are in it for power, control and wealth. Once they have finished with us, who will be next?

Elon Musk, the richest man on this planet, learned the hard way that once the benefit of an ally is past, they attack, and you feel safe?

As a Jew, I am concerned that the pattern of this administration follows the pattern of the past. Do you really think that when the time comes, they won't turn to vilify and attack Jews?

The actions of this administration, down to their minions, are frightening, but don't take my word for it.
